The leaves are turning and the weather is cooling down. For me, that means it is the best time of the year, it is time for football. If you are like me and eat up every second of the college and NFL seasons, then you also may be trying to figure out how to make the most of the time you have rooting for your favorite team! Ubokia is the perfect place to optimize your football experience, and I am going to show you how.

First, let’s talk tailgating. All good tailgaters need a few things to get themselves started: a portable barbecue, a cooler to keep food and drinks cold, team spirit gear, and a canopy to keep the weather from crashing the party. Generally, these things are found in different stores, and a person would have to travel around on a treasure hunt to find the best deals and the right items. However, with Ubokia, you can ask for what you want specifically, and let others fill those wants for you. You never have to leave home, and you still have everything you need for the entire season of tailgating fun. If you are looking to take your tailgating to the next level with a tailgating van or RV equipped with all the comforts of home, Ubokia has you covered there too with Ubokia Motors.

Next, let’s step things up and go from tailgating to attending a game. Finding the tickets you need is as easy as logging in and letting people know which game you wish to go see. The best part about looking for tickets on Ubokia, is that you name your price, and the people with extra or unusable tickets can find you. There is no more wading through unaffordable or ambiguously labeled tickets. You’ll never have to contact ticket seller after ticket seller to inquire about what they have available again.

Finally, Ubokia isn’t just for those looking to leave the comforts of home behind to experience the game, it’s also for those watching from home. If you’re looking for a new flat screen and sound system, there is no need to visit every electronics store in the city. All you need to do is ask for what you want, and let your new home theater system come to you! Browsing Pinterest for ideas to make your next football party the best on the block? Now you can grab the Ubokia “Want It” button and use it to actually get the things pinned to your football board. Planning a football extravaganza has never been easier or more fun.

’Tis the season of mascots and face paint. Now, get out there and let Ubokia help you enjoy it to the fullest!

Matt Pine is our Vice President of Marketing here at Ubokia and had a great experience using Ubokia this week. His girlfriend Kirsten had lost a bracelet that was really important to her and was on the hunt for a new one. Naturally, Matt turned to Ubokia to find this unique bracelet. Ubokia’s Want-centric approach proved to be the perfect platform to finding a unique bracelet with a description that wouldn’t return any meaningful results in any search engine. Matt then posted several pictures of different types of bracelets that had similar qualities to the one he was specifically looking for. He also asked for sellers to include pictures in their responses so he could see if it was the right look. Within a day of posting his Want, Matt had 3 offers from sellers showing him the kind of bracelets they had to offer. He was able to use Ubokia’s private negotiation functionality to easily respond to the multiple sellers who came to him with offers.

After a few back-and-forths, Matt was able to choose the bracelet that was exactly what he wanted. And since the seller was uTrust verified he knew that the seller could be trusted and he closed the deal. Thanks to Ubokia, Matt was able to get his girlfriend the perfect bracelet that he wouldn’t have been able to find very easily anywhere else. Since the sellers came to Matt, instead of the other way around, he was able to choose from a seller that had the best match as well as the best price. Ubokia’s buyer-focused platform allowed Matt to get exactly what he wanted for a price he wanted to pay and the seller got to be proactive and approach buyers who wanted what they had to offer.

Summer is coming to an end and that means one thing: Time for back to school shopping. Back to school shopping can be an overwhelming task for many, but it doesn’t have to be. Using Ubokia for your back to school shopping can make it easy and stress free. Here are four tips to make back to school shopping a summer breeze.

1) Post Wants for everything on your list

Instead of going to multiple stores to try and find every item you need, simply post a Want for each item on your list and let the sellers come to you! Our reverse marketplace is a perfect way for you to get what you want while at the same time giving you more time to enjoy the end of Summer. Post a new Want to get started.

2) Create a New uGroup

Another way Ubokia is perfect for everything you need for getting back to school is uGroups. Ugroups allow you to create open or private marketplaces where members can buy, sell and trade with eachother in a more protected environment. For example, you can create a private uGroup for your child’s school and invite all of your fellow parents to join and post their Wants and seller items. uGroups also give you an added layer of protection since you control who joins, so you can post Wants for things such as carpooling, tutoring, and after school programs in addition to school supplies. Creating a uGroup is simple and free.

3) Post Want for Textbooks

For those in higher education, Ubokia is a great way to get the books you need for class at a bargain. Simply post Wants for all the books that you need for class and let the sellers come to you. This is a simple way to get a great deal on used textbooks without the headache of trying to get them from the bookstore.

4) Sell Unused Items

Often times the end of the school year leaves a lot of leftover school supplies. Selling them on Ubokia is simple and can make you a little extra cash too. You can easily search for Wants that others have posted to see if anyone wants the supplies you have to sell or you can also post a new seller item so when someone does post a new Want matching your item, you’ll get a notification.

All of these features are built on top of Ubokia’s robust marketplace and also includes many trust features such as uTrust which verifies user’s identity. As you can see Ubokia makes for a great way to get the items you need to get ready for going back to school. What are some other ways Ubokia would make for a great tool for going back to school?

Vince is the type of guy who doesn’t like to waste his money. So, it made sense that when he wanted to buy a pressure washer, he didn’t want to buy a brand new one only to have it sit in his garage for a majority of the time. Vince also thought his friends in his neighborhood might feel the same way, so he began asking some of them if they would like to buy a pressure washer together. They agreed to pool their money together and buy a used pressure washer for the neighborhood. Now, all he needed was to find a seller.

Vince had used Craigslist in the past but, always felt uncomfortable sharing his personal information with complete strangers. He had heard about Ubokia from a friend and liked the security features, so he decided to give it a try. Vince posted a Want on Ubokia for a pressure washer and within a few days he got a response from a seller who had exactly what he wanted. Thanks to Ubokia’s secure negotiations, they reached an agreement without either party having to give-up personal information before they were ready.

Vince and his neighborhood were able to get a great deal on a pressure washer to share and the seller was able to find a buyer without having to filter through pages of unqualified prospects. Using Ubokia, both parties got exactly what they wanted without having to compromise their personal information. Ubokia is a great way to get what you want and have the sellers come to you, all within a safe and secure environment.

Jenelle owns and operates a local vintage furniture rental business called ‘A Peach and A Pear’. She caters to photographers, event planners, and anyone who needs the look and feel of eras past. As such, she is always on the search for interesting pieces to add to her collection, which can often be hard to come by. Having heard about Ubokia from a friend, she decided to give it a try and post a Want for vintage couches.

Soon enough, she was connected to a woman in her community who had some old couches to sell that were just sitting in her garage because she was reluctant to try posting them on Craigslist. She came across Jenelle’s listing for vintage couches while browsing Wants and immediately contacted her knowing she had exactly what Jenelle wanted. After a brief negotiation, the deal was done and Jenelle picked up the couches and both parties were satisfied.

Jenelle was able to get two great vintage couches to add to her collection and grow her business and the seller was able to turn unwanted furniture into cash. Posting her Want on Ubokia also saved Jenelle tons of time as well as allowed her to get a great deal. Are you looking for something specific that you have a hard time finding anywhere else? Post a new Want. Do you have a garage full of items that you want to tuen into cash? Browse Wants or post a new Seller Item.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwire – Jun 25, 2012) - Ubokia, Inc., the preeminent buyer’s marketplace that is transforming social ecommerce, today announced uTrust. This feature is the world’s first trust verification system for ecommerce to eliminate the risk of buying online. Ubokia is committed to providing the ultimate buying experience in which buyers and sellers can transact with confidence. As an optional process for users on Ubokia, uTrust disables potential scammers from hiding behind anonymity for a safe, secure online marketplace for users to buy and sell.

Most ecommerce sites can be intimidating — in fact, buying from anonymous sellers often becomes more of a risk than an opportunity. Ubokia aims to eliminate fears associated with buying online by offering Ubokia users the option to verify themselves with uTrust. This new step towards safe transactions adds an additional layer of security for buyers. Buyers can purchase on their own terms and choose whether to deal with a safe seller versus an anonymous one.

“We want people to connect and transact online in a way that’s safe, secure and positive for everyone,” said Bill Stein, Ubokia’s Trust and Safety Officer. “At Ubokia, we understand one way we can facilitate this experience is to go the extra mile with a built-in trust mechanism. Buyers can get what they want with the assurance of what they’re buying and who it’s coming from.”

In addition to uTrust, uGroups is another security feature that allows users to create virtual marketplaces. With uGroups, members can buy, sell, and trade with others in their existing social communities or with those that share a common passion. For users who prefer to keep their identities secret, the site will function as normal. Users are able to build out profiles with eBay ratings or by connecting with Facebook and PayPal.

Users who opt-in to be uTrust verified begin by providing some information about themselves. Ubokia then uses the information from public records to generate several questions to which only the “real” person would know the answers. Once Ubokia has verified a user’s identity, he or she is considered “uTrusted” and receives a uTrust badge on his or her profile. This type of verification system instills a sense of confidence in both buyers and sellers, creating a platform that is not only safe and useful, but also fun and friendly. Ubokia is committed to continuing to develop additional measures to protect consumers and ensure online safety.

It’s that time of the year again when we’ve emerged from the cold months of Winter and have entered the glorious warm months of Spring and Summer. With this change in season comes the sudden urge to clean and organize our surroundings, which we call Spring cleaning. Here are four great ways that Ubokia can help you clear out the clutter and organize your domain.

1) Out with the old

Do you have a garage full of items you no longer want or need? Turn it into cash while clearing up valuable space. You can do this by browsing Wants in specific categories and/or look at all the Wants that are near you. Once you find someone who Wants what you have you can immediately start the negotiation process with that person, all through Ubokia. Another great way to sell your stuff on Ubokia is to create a new Seller Item which matches you with the people who Want your item, making it even easier to get rid of unwanted stuff.

2) In with the new

Now, the whole point of Spring cleaning is to get rid of the clutter, but it’s also a great chance to get organized. Using Ubokia to post what you Want is a great way to get some new stuff to help you get organized. Simply create a new Want for organizing items such as shelves for the garage, containers for the kitchen, or bins for the backyard and determine how much you want to pay. Now, just wait for people to come to you.

3) Get some help

Ubokia is a great way to post tasks because you are able to list out specifically what you want and someone in your own community can respond. Whether it is cleaning up the backyard, garage, or entire house, you can post what you’re looking for on Ubokia and have people come to you. This is an easy way to get some extra help around the house to get your Spring cleaning done quick.

4) Give some help

Finally, you can use Ubokia to find jobs for yourself and earn some extra cash while helping others get their Spring cleaning done. Browse Wants or search for Wants that are looking to hire people in your area and choose the job that suits you best. This is a great way to meet some new people in your area and also make a few extra bucks.

One of our favorite things to do here at Ubokia is hear about ways our users are using Ubokia to get what they Want and we want to take a moment and share that excitement with you. We are starting a new series where we share how some of our users have used Ubokia to get what they Want. Not only is this a way for us to brag about our awesome users, it also allows us to tell you about new ways to use Ubokia. If you have a story about how Ubokia helped you get what you Want we would love to hear from you. Please send us your Ubokia story to stories@ubokia.com and we will pick our favorites and share them during this ongoing series.

For this first installment of ‘Ubokia Stories’ we want to share the story of Karen. Karen is a busy mom who has her hands full watching after her children. She really wanted a trundle bed but, as it goes with busy moms, lacked the time necessary to scan through the endless and often irrelevant ads on Craigslist. Having recently heard about Ubokia she decided to give it a try. In less than five minutes Karen posted a Want for a trundle bed on Ubokia excited at the thought of a seller coming to her instead of the other way around. That’s where Cathy came in.

Cathy lived in the same town as Karen, but the two had never met. As she was browsing the Wants on Ubokia she came across Karen’s Want for a trundle bed. Cathy had been wanting to sell her trundle bed which was just sitting in her garage collecting dust, but never trusted Craigslist after hearing numerous horror stories. She immediately contacted Karen and made an offer to sell her trundle bed.

Thrilled to have found a seller in her own community, Karen responded and sealed the deal. They agreed on a date to deliver the bed, and the transaction happened seamlessly and both parties got what they wanted. But something else happened as well. Because of Ubokia, two members in the same community were able to connect in a way that they couldn’t have before, and the moment they met, Cathy and Karen became fast friends. And it all started with a Want.

Do you Want something but don’t have time to look through endless stream of for-sale ads? Post your Want on Ubokia. Do you have a bunch of stuff lying around your house that you want to get rid of? Browse Wants to see if you can fulfill any Wants, or create a Seller Alert and be notified as soon as a Want is posted that matches what you have. There’s lots of ways to get what you Want on Ubokia and we love hearing about them. How have you used Ubokia to get what you Want? Let us know by sending us an email at stories@ubokia.com.
